Biryani and Pounded Yam!

It all started in the dusty port city of Karachi. It wasn't long, however, when we were together in the lush tropical climate of Nigeria. We lived in places where it rains 10 months out of the year, and in places where the blue skies are engulfed by the fine sands of the Sahara for half the year. Our cuisine ranges from spicy biryani to pounded yam. Our culture is a convoluted mix of Asia and Africa, with a twist of Western liberalism.

Today, we are all over the globe. Nausheen lives in Dubai, Asim in California, and Abbu, Ammi and Atif in Lagos. However, we are never really far apart. The internet age has only brought us closer. Now, in a matter of seconds, Nausheen is able to send the pictures of her new born to Abbu in Lagos. It takes two minutes to set up Asim's i-phone in Silicon Valley to send live video to Atif in Apapa, almost 7000 miles away.
