Eastern Sierra Nevada!
The Sierra Nevada is the mountain range that runs from Lake Tahoe in Northern California down to the Death Valley in Southern California. The highest peak in this range is 14,000 ft. The Eastern side of the Sierras is a pristine natural wonderland that is almost unaccessible in the winter. Along the Eastern side lies the meandering Highway 395. The scenary along HWY 395 is breathtaking.

Our 800 mile trip started out on the humongous crater just off of Monitor Pass, and then onto the ghost town of Bodie, abandoned since 1941. Along the way, we saw the aquatic natural habitat of Mono Lake, and then onto fishermen's paradise, Bishop. Mammoth Lakes is a world-class skiing area, which is also home to the "Devil's Postpile", a volcanic formation of perfectly symetrical rocks. On the way back, we crossed the Sierra via HWY 108, a trecherous road, whose virgin beauty is unrivaled. Please click on the thumbnail to view the full size image.
